Overview

Responsible for the analyses of company’s hotel development opportunities.  Responsible for gaining buy-in from key constituencies in the development process, including but not limited to potential development partners, investors and lenders, potential operators, etc.  The scope of responsibility includes reviewing hotel transactions, whether new development, existing conversion opportunities, by means of either management or licensed transactions.   This person is responsible for presenting Hard Rock International in the most favorable light. 

Responsibilities

  1. Implement strategic development plan for the expansion of Hard Rock’s hotels in target markets across the Americas.
  2. Provide quick and accurate assessments and evaluations of business prospects and rapidly filter opportunities.
  3. Quantify appropriate opportunities by commissioning and analyzing market research, calculating income, operating costs, and development cash flow projections, and coordinate design input and supervision of any construction development with appropriate colleagues; quantify the resultant effect on investment return analyses.
  4. Achieve key initiatives related to specific site development such as zoning entitlement, contract negotiation and site planning to ensure successful development of projects.
  5. Maintain productive, quality working relationships with the development community of owners, developers, financiers, real estate advisors, government officials, industry consultants, and the wider business community to the ultimate benefit of HRI.
  6. Executes deals without adding unnecessary complexity and mitigating risks, communicating effectively both formally and informally to avoid surprises/issues.
  7. Maintain a tracking system for all projects to be utilized from the inception through disposition.
  8. Act as a “Brand Ambassador” for Hard Rock in the territory, in conjunction with HRI’s Managed and Franchised Cafe Divisions and existing and future franchisees in the region.
  9. Monitor relevant industry trends and their potential impact on the investment and development strategy.

Qualifications

  • A professional in his/her field with ten years experience in hotel development and demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes.
  • A bachelor’s degree required preferably in Hospitality Management, Real Estate, Finance or Accounting.
  • Knowledge of underwriting of hotel transactions and transaction parameters.
  • Possess a take-charge ability tempered with diplomacy and the insight to anticipate problems and the sophistication with which to resolve them.
  • A strong decision maker who can identify and generate well-formed ideas.
  • Ability to collect market data and resources, prepare business recommendations in an articulate and detailed manner.
  • Demands of himself/herself and of others, the highest professional standards of personal and professional integrity.
  • Has an established network within the hotel market and will continue to develop relationships with in key categories such as developers, financial institutes and hospitality contacts within specific potential development markets.
  • Exhibits a track record indicating the potential for 100% success in the role.
  • Experience in hotel and/or hotel/casino operations, development and construction process a plus.
