Overview

Lead the team to establish and determine the assortment plans at the store, category, and product levels while also determining promotional and pricing plans that address global and regional needs to drive sales.  Budget, oversee, improve & enhance warehouse and distribution to venues, logistics operations, and vendor shipment movements through supply chain.  Liaison with Ops, IT, Marketing, R&D, Business Affairs, Finance and Vendor Partners to ensure Merchandise department goals and objectives are aligned and achieved.

Responsibilities

Merchandising

  • Drive the assortment strategy. Oversee the establishment and execution of assortment plans and business strategies through influencing product development, promotions, pricing, buying, product placement, and trend.
  • Direct the planning of the assortment size and breath, store distribution, costing and retail pricing to ensure departmental results are achieved.
  • Establish, drive, and execute a product testing strategy, product lifecycle vision and merchandise business plan.
  • Direct retail-testing process and oversee assessment of results to determine which products will be strategically incorporated into assortment plans.
  • Work closely with Product Development to maximize adoption rate as well as ensure styles are updated and replaced in a timely manner.
  • Identify emerging fashion trends in the market. Interpret emerging ideas in the market to our customers taste. Work with Product Development to interpret and forecast trends through customer lens.
  • Develop, communicate and execute seasonal strategic initiatives to deliver on financial objectives.
  • Partner with Retail Planning to ensure financial plans accurately reflect seasonal strategies and merchandise plans inclusive of sales, markdowns, and category/product growth opportunities.
  • Effectively analyze and manage in season business to maximize topline sales and minimize markdowns.
  • Develop and determine Non Clearance Promotions/Events/Contests.
  • Work with Visual Merchandising and Store Operations teams to ensure vision of the merchandise strategy is executed as expected.

Supply Chain Logistics

  • Review product inventory flows by analyzing and developing logistics plans to ensure efficiency.
  • Govern strategy for product flow from start of supply chain to end of product lifecycle; controlling deliveries to ensure all buying team timelines are met.
  • Oversee all aspects of company third party warehouse facilities and their operation.
  • Oversee the evaluation of bids, selection of transportation suppliers, negotiation of price and delivery method with freight carriers.
  • Ensures that all inventoried items are properly identified and readily accessible for distribution, enabling order processing to flow as planned.
  • Responsible for management and accuracy of all inventories in third party warehouse facilities.
  • Work with planning and purchasing, overseeing the monitoring of in-bound purchase orders.
  • Partner with IT to ensure systems are in sync, supporting company field operations, and maintaining EDI / SQL user integrity.
  • Review and approve Vendor Compliance Manual agreements with Vendor Partners.

 

 

 

General

  • Uphold vendor compliance standards, identify, and resolve product quality issues with Vendor and liaison with Logistics Team and Vendor to address and resolve compliance issues.
  • Review all contracts that affect the department.
  • Collaborate with Ops teams regarding merchandise plans, goals, assortment strategy, logistics and annual strategic initiatives .
  • Manage, mentor and develop Team to achieve their goals and objectives.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM

 

  • 10 to 15+ years progressive experience.
  • College degree required.
