Overview

The Project Manager, IT Low Voltage Systems is accountable for the successful implementation of the IT Systems infrastructure and applications on all real estate construction: new builds and renovations to existing buildings and projects. The position’s responsibilities include ensuring proper and timely control and dissemination of all necessary supporting documentation including designs, budgets, construction plans, and supplier information in a manner conducive to proper project implementation and successful completion. The position requires the ability to freely navigate a construction site, during all stages of construction.

Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assumes responsibility under the guidance of the Vice-President of IT managing all low voltage and other technology system requirements associated with real estate development
  • Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with the senior and functional managers throughout the key business areas
  • Approves project plans and ensures projects are aligned with IT standards and strategy
  • Create and maintain IT low voltage budget models for quick budgetary proposal delivery
  • Allocates appropriate resources to ensure projects are completed within committed time and budget
  • Ensures that the status of projects is effectively communicated back to the user groups in a timely manner
  • Does periodic presentations of current status, progress and budget tracking reports for management review
  • Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with the senior and functional managers throughout the key business areas
  • Coordinate with the Engineers, Architects and Vendors in the creation of the design documents
  • Works closely with functional managers, operational staff, vendors and suppliers on technology requirements for the construction projects
  • Prepares and compiles all required low voltage wiring requirements, scheduling, budgeting and implementation timelines
  • Coordinates technology standards and requirements to respective architectural and engineering groups
  • Attends project construction meeting and mediates issues and changes as and when required
  • Reviews, creates and prepares floor plan layouts of the data center and equipment closets
  • Continually develops and enhances a staff of information systems professionals
  • Establishes leadership and follow-through to ensure that costs/benefits are clearly understood and attained
  • Opens up problem reporting tickets and accurately uses all problem tracking software systems
  • Adheres to other defined IT and business SOPs as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in computer science, business administration, or related field – required
  • Extensive experience with Project Management or PMP certification preferred
  • BICSI or equivalent cabling design and installation certification
  • Ability to demonstrate at least 8 years of first hand high level experience in Information Technology related project management or similar experience
  • Ability to deal with a diverse range of people, which includes the upper levels of corporate management
  • Self-sufficient, requiring limited supervision over job knowledge, expectations and successful project completion
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and advanced use of Visio – required
