Overview

Collaborate with the Merchants, Design, Logistics, Finance and others to develop and execute strategic budgets and merchandise financial plans. Responsible for inventory management for area of responsibility including Initial buy quantities and flow, allocation and replenishment strategies, re-orders and eventually liquidations where necessary. Meet/Exceed budgeted targets for Sales, Profits and Inventory by creating in-season forecasts, recognizing and acting upon risks and opportunities and by managing inventory to maximize sales and reduce liabilities. Hire, train and develop direct reports to ensure long terms success. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Director of Planning/Head Merchant to develop monthly store/category plans that support budgeted sales, profit and inventory goals.
  • Responsible for reconciling tops down budgets to item forecasts. Recommend actions and strategies to maximize opportunity and reduce risk.
  • Responsible for buys and inventory levels down to sku/store. Partner with merchant on all initial buys. Utilize forecasts, business knowledge and input from team to maximize in-stock rate on all current active styles at sku /store level while reducing liability on all discontinued styles. Work with allocation analyst to fine tune allocation rules, and strategies.
  • Utilize forecasts as well as other business knowledge to create performance expectations for each category/store to ensure sales and profits are maximized.
  • Partner with Merchant on hind sights and analysis to evolve assortment framework and distribution. Lead and evolve strategy for Buying, Allocation and Inventory Management.
  • Participate in Assortment Plan reviews to address slow-moving products, discuss replacement opportunities, and make recommendations of replacement product based on test performances.
  • Partner with logistics and vendors to ensure on time delivery of our merchandise. Highlight repeat vendor performance issues to Head Merchant, Development and Logistics.
  • Lead all analysis related to driving sales thru Inventory management. Partner with Merchant where necessary to analyze opportunities to drive additional sales and profits thru the assortment and distribution of each style to each store.
  • Work with business analyst to clear thru discontinued merchandise including the strategic use of markdowns, discounts and eventually write-offs where necessary
  • Communicate and collaborate with entire Retail Team regarding store plans, goals and overall strategy.
  • Provide monthly store/category sales information to be included in monthly P&L review meetings with Senior Management.
  • Hire, train, mentor and develop direct reports. Provide a positive working environment for all peers and direct reports, prioritize workloads, provide challenging opportunities and act with respect and integrity at all times
  • Miscellaneous projects as needed for various individuals/departments within the organization.
  • Act as a liason between the Merchandise and Finance teams during the budgeting process to determine timing of new store openings, re-models, closures, as well as anticipated sales direction for the year.

 

  • Coordinate operations between departments.
  • Present a professional image to employees, guests, clients, owners and investors.
  • Attend client functions and designated parties to provide support, ensure guest satisfaction and promote future business.
  • Build business/market share by thinking of new ways to promote company and by participating in local events to increase sales and profits. Develop and maintain positive relationships with in the business and social community. Spearhead annual philanthropic initiatives.
  • Work as a team, helping all employees to complete the required activities that ensure we blow away Guest expectations.
  • Operate ethically to protect the image of Hard Rock.
  • Utilize programs designed to help Save the Planet.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years planning experience.
  • Proven performance in a Planning role in a retail organization.
  • College degree required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Enjoys working on a team.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
  • Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Multiple language abilities a plus, fluency in English required.
