Overview

The Director of eCommerce will be the driving force behind Hard Rock’s online retail strategy and execution through collaboration with the product development, merchandising, planning, and licensing teams to deliver sales growth through the online channels.  This role is key in establishing and executing best-in-class practices for building a holistic online retail experience and requires a proven ecommerce leader to manage and accelerate the ecommerce business.  Leads a team responsible for delivering online retail experiences in new and exciting ways, defining the product vision, and evangelizing that vision within the leadership team in order to secure organizational support and the resources required to deliver on the that strategy.  Partners with the retail teams to formulate strategic category plans that support the global business and drive online sales.  Inspires teams to drive results through data and customer knowledge utilizing strong business acumen and passion to create and develop the next generation ecommerce experience for Hard Rock.

Responsibilities

  • Drive business results/KPIs by leveraging data both for driving change and measuring impact of delivery. Forecast ROI and manage the eCommerce P&L. Responsible for ongoing working knowledge of strengths/weaknesses, competitive advantages/disadvantages, key vendors/players, whitespace opportunities
  • Partners with senior management and stakeholders to develop the ecommerce experience portfolio, define key strategies, and create roadmaps that will enable the company to achieve their annual business objectives
  • Serves as a voice of the customer and acts as a customer experience advocate in considering decisions that will positively impact the customer
  • Influence the organization to build and deliver a best in class ecommerce experience
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and merchandising to refine and continually evolve the ecommerce experience against the competitive landscape
  • Closely monitors market, customer needs, and trends and works within a cross-functional environment to translate into future enhancements and new experiences
  • Balances scope of projects against one another to determine how to make the most efficient use of resources to create the greatest level of value for the company
  • Develops clear and complete business cases and business requirements and presents to senior management the information necessary to make informed approval, prioritization and tradeoff decisions
  • Champions a point-of-view to senior leadership regarding the relative importance of various initiatives that are ready to move to the development phase
  • Ensures all relevant parties and key stakeholders are informed of project status from concept through launch
  • Develop and maintain a model for tracking the effectiveness of new features and trends
  • Communicates key success metrics to senior leadership team
  • Structures and manages relationships with third party partners as appropriate
  • Coaches team members as they respond to project escalations with an assessment of the business implications of changes to project scope, timeline, or resources.
  • Creates and fosters career development and growth paths for team members in alignment with company, product and personal objectives
  • Provides team with clear and measurable goals and objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years in eCommerce/eRetailing
  • Demonstrated hands-on execution capabilities with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated success in defining, implementing and advocating effective ecommerce processes, methods and tools
  • Expert understanding of e-commerce best practices and experience/technology trends
  • Experience with agile development processes and monthly or weekly product release cycles
  • Expert at project planning and data analysis
  • Good understanding of database design and information architecture

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of managerial success in a fast-paced environment by possessing the experience, ability, and knowledge to move the business forward financially while focusing on human capital.
  • Proven track record of making high-quality decisions and the ability to make complex decisions.
  • An applicable standard of education is required.

SKILLS

  • Strong leadership behaviors coupled with the technical skill set to drive the business toward success.
  • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
  • Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Multiple language abilities a plus, fluency in English required.
  • A “can do” mentality – demonstrating a real passion for making things happen and for achieving stretch targets

Work Environment:

  • Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting.
