  • Overview

    The Director of Design and Construction Franchise Cafes will provide internal development, process design and construction expertise to all cafe projects representing our brand, both company owned and Franchise, to ensure that the product offering matches with our brand standards while meeting financial modeling in maximizing return on investment in accordance with corporate and franchise department SVP’s.  Design and construction is inclusive of exterior, interior décor, lighting, memorabilia, atmosphere management and all aspects around the cafe, retail store, function space and/or live venue.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Ensure that company resources to design and build new projects are efficiently managed.
    • Deliver units within budget and schedule restraints with the design exceeding guest expectations.
    • Identify and establish procurement strategies for all phrases of build-out resulting in cost/schedule savings.
    • Develop retail enhancements to maximize sales.
    • Continually pursue advancements in storytelling attribute to the memorabilia.
    • Oversee the design and cost of new existing cafes, retail stores and function spaces.
    • Develop and manage a professional staff required to implement all projects in accordance with the company’s strategic direction.
    • Establish increased awareness of memorabilia collection by developing a plan with marketing department to educate guests, staff and media on its value to the music and entertainment sector.
    • Build relationships with vendors and strategic partners, internally and externally.
    • Provide executive direction to all third parties who are establishing a Hard Rock product under a license or franchise arrangement.
    • Present a professional image to employees, guests, clients, owners and investors.
    • Provide design and development direction as necessary to reflect Hard Rock brand standards.
    • Ensure memorabilia is appropriate and installed efficiently.
    • Provide employees with tools and supplies needed for success.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
    • Provide on-site observation, test fits, construction estimates and engineering reviews for prospective sites associated with cafes.
    • Provide design review services and direction to Franchisees and Partners to ensure they are developing products that meet or exceeds Hard Rock standards.
    • Operate ethically to protect the image of Hard Rock.

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in related area.
    • Secondary certification in design, real estate, construction or similar areas.
    • 10+ years of experience with a focus in the business of casual dining restaurants and retail store development.
    • International experience in real estate, development and construction.
    • Negotiating experience with large and small projects.
    • Knowledge in hospitality business inclusive of restaurants, retail, and real estate.

     

    SKILLS

    • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
    • Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Multiple language abilities a plus, fluency in English required.
    • Ability to persuade and sell ideas up, down, and across the organization.
    • Energetic, resourceful, hands-on executive who operates effectively with minimum direction and who pursues objectives relentlessly.
        • Has a positive, upbeat attitude and is passionate about their business and organization.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to move throughout the corporate office and cafes during visits (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
    • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
    • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hand above shoulders.
    • Ability to occasionally, regularly, frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 10 pounds.
    • Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
    • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.
    • Ability to travel via auto or airplane for long periods of time.

     

     

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to travel extensively – Domestically & Internationally.
