  • Overview

    The Design Assistant is responsible for the assisting of conceptual design and design management of Cafe, Hotel, Entertainment and, Casino properties while maintaining the integrity of the design throughout the development of the project.  He/She will work closely with Project Development, Memorabilia, and Consultants to ensure a high quality product.

    Responsibilities

    BUSINESS RESULTS

    • Assisting with test fit space plans for new Hotel and Entertainment projects.
    • Assisting with conceptualization of complete interior and exterior design for Café, Hotel, Entertainment and Casino projects.
    • Assisting senior design managers and other members of Project Development Studios with their design objectives.
    • Meeting with product vendors to maintain design library.
    • Responsible for maintaining and organizing entire design library and work area.

    LEADERSHIP & EXECUTION

    • Communication of ideas to Project Development Studios staff, the project design team and HRI executives.
    • Creation of support materials for implementation.
    • Coordination of designs from consultants into complete drawing documentation.
    • Oversight of design implementation through construction and project completion.

     

    GUEST ENGAGEMENT

    • Liaison with developer/franchise design teams with a proactive review and approval of project designs.
    • Building relationship with vendors and strategic partners to ensure that projects are completed timely and on-budget while producing the highest quality delivery.

     

    EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

    • Conduct Café, Hotel, Entertainment and Casino project site visits during feasibility of design construction as needed.

    LEARNING & APPLYING EXPERTISE

    • Understanding of brand identity to ensure that the design creates a memorable experience
    • Maintaining corporate Café, Hotel, Entertainment and Casino project style guides and contributing to ongoing design standards.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in design related field (or in final educational year), including but not limited to: Architecture, Design, or Interior Design.
    • 1 year of relevant experience in Architecture, Hospitality, Entertainment, Restaurant, and Retail Design
    • Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
    • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
    • Ability to work effectively with many different groups of people (vendors, contractors, designers, company representatives).
    • Proficient in AutoCAD, required.
    • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), required.
    • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Google SketchUp, or similar rendering and modeling software, preferred.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • Ability to understand brand concepts in order to provide guest experiences that align with company strategies.
    • Strong organizational skills.

     

    SKILLS  (LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, TECHNICAL & REASONING)

    • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
    • Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to developer / franchise, and other employees of the organization.
    • Multiple language abilities a plus, fluency in English required.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to move throughout the corporate office and Hotel/Casinos during visits (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
    • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
    • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hand above shoulders.
    • Ability to occasionally, regularly, frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 10 pounds.
    • Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
    • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.
